B.Sc. (N) Admission 2024-25 Prospectus

B.SC. (N) ADMISSION 2023-24 PROSPECTUS

1. Introduction

The Sanjo College of Nursing and Allied Sciences, Vellappara. Palakkad is a Catholic Christian educational institution established and managed by the Diocesan Charitable Society of the Syro Malabar Diocese of Palakkad. Sanjo College is situated just 25 meters away from Trichur-Coimbatore National Highway and just 9 Kms from Palakkad Town. Sanjo College of Pharmaceutical Studies and Sanjo Central School are functioning next to the College of Sanjo Nursing.

 Sanjo Nursing College has an annual in-take of 60 students for B.Sc. Nursing. The college is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (I.N.C.) as well as the Kerala Nursing and Midwifery Council (KNMC) and is affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS).

Paalana Institute of Medical Science is the parent hospital of the Sanjo College of Nursing. Paalana is the first hospital in Palakkad with NABH (Pre) and NABL Accreditation. This multispecialty hospital has departments of General medicines & Modern diabetology, Toxicology, Cardiology, Neuro Surgery, Neurology, General & Laparoscopic Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Neonatology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, Gastroenterology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Urology, Ophthalmology, Dental, Maxillofacial Surgery, Dermatology, Pain & Palliative Care, Physiotherapy, Counselling, Psychiatry etc. Paalna has General ICU, Toxicology ICU, Surgical ICU, Neonatology ICU and CCU.

Overview of the B.Sc. Nursing Course

  • This college offer B.Sc. Nursing Degree Programme of 4year duration as specified by Kerala University of Health Sciences, (KUHS), approved by Indian Nursing Council & Kerala Nurses and Midwives
  • Admission process of this college is through college website. Application form can be downloaded either online or can be collected from college office by paying an amount of 500/-.
  • This prospectus contains the rules and regulations for selection and admission to the seats to be filled by management of PIMS College of Nursing for the Academic year 2023-2024.

2. NUMBER OF SEATS

  • The annual intake for BSc Nursing is 60.

    All the candidates admitted shall pay the fees fixed by Government of Kerala / Fee Regulatory Committee and as approved or modified by competent authorities.

III. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

  • Academic:

    • Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or equivalent examinations recognized by any of the Universities in the State of Kerala with Aggregate of 50 % marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and 50 % marks in English in second year only are eligible for

    (ii)  Relaxation in marks: –

    • Candidates belonging to SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Classes) in the State of Kerala with total annual family income up to Rs.6 lakhs will have relaxation of 5% The Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates in the state of Kerala need only a pass in the qualifying Examination.
    • Those candidates claiming relaxation of marks shall produce necessary certificates from the authority concerned. There will be no reservation of seats for SEBC and or SC/ST candidates under Management

     

    Eligibility Certificates: Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from places other than State of Kerala shall produce the certificate of recognition and equivalency of qualifying examination from KUHS, Thrissur.  This should be furnished at the time of interview for admission.

    • Applicants should have completed 17 years of age on the 31st December 2022. No relaxation of the minimum age will be

IV. HOW TO APPLY

  • Application for admission to B.Sc. Nursing course can be registered online through a single application. The provision for applying online is available at the website www.sanjocollegeofnursing.org. Submission of more than one application by a candidate will lead to rejection of the candidate.

    Application Fee:

     

    (i) The application fee will be Rs.500/-. The payment can be done directly in the nursing college office. Application submission will be completed only after uploading scanned copy of Fees paid receipt.

    Remittance of Application Fee and Submission of Application Form

    • There will be three stages for the submission of an application form and all stages are
    • Candidates shall complete all the stages of submission as per the time schedule which will be notified through the website/media.

    Stage 1- Entering candidate details online and creating a login ID and password. Stage 2- Online payment of an application fee either by uploading scanned copy of fees paid receipt.

    Stage 3- Completion of an application submission.

     

    Direct Submission of application in the college office: Fill the application form by direct payment of an application fees at the nursing college office with requisite documents. They can also need to submit application online and upload fees paid receipt.

V. PREPARATION OF MERIT LIST

  • Merit list:

     

    • 50% management seats will be filled by managements from among the applications received by the college on the basis of merit list prepared based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination in the core subjects as mentioned in the eligibility

    Resolution of tie while ranking: In the case of a tie in the total marks, the marks in Biology will be counted. If there is still a tie the marks in Chemistry and Physics will be counted. If a tie still exists, the age of the candidate will be taken into account, the elder will be preferred to the younger.

    Validity of the merit list: The published merit list will be valid till the date up to which the merit list shall be kept alive in terms of instruction/direction of competent authority.

    Inclusion in the merit list will not entitle the applicant eligible for admission to the course, unless the applicant satisfies the rules regarding the eligibility for admission and other conditions as laid down in

    the Prospectus.

     

    Furnishing of false information/particulars would result in the forfeiture of the candidature as well as Cancellation of admission to the course and in addition will attract the relevant provisions of criminal law of the land.

VI. SELECTION OF THE CANDIDATES

  • Selection of the candidates is only on the basis of the rank lists prepared and published in the website based on the marks secured by the candidate for the seats.

VI. SELECTION OF THE CANDIDATES

 

    • The selected candidates will be informed about the date and time of admission through the
    • The students shall pay all fees of the 1st  year of the course at the time of admission which will not be refunded at any circumstances.
    • If any candidate discontinues the course, after closing of admission as notified by the authority, the candidate has to pay the full fee of the remaining course (4 yrs). The Collection of liquidated damages shall be as per the final decision of the AFRC or Court of Law.

VIII. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • Ragging: Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in College is committed to abolish ragging in the campus. Hence any student who indulges in any form of ragging will be subjected to penal action as per provisions of law. Also, the student will be expelled from the college as detailed in the law concerned and as per Honorable Supreme Court of India directions in this regard.
  • Use of Mobile Phone: Use of Mobile Phone by students are restricted in the Any violation of this prohibition will lead to stringent disciplinary action by the college authorities.
